Greetings Continuing Challenge Students, Faculty, and Friends,

The USEPA Region IX, in coordination with the Continuing Challenge, has announced the availability of a series of on-line courses to help maintain and enhance hazardous materials emergency and site worker competencies.  The initial posting is an 8-hour General Site Worker refresher pursuant to Section (e) of the HAZWOPER standard (29CFR part 1910.120/ Title 8 Section 5192 CCR).

Traditionally EPA Emergency Response has provided 8-Hour Refresher training to many of our partner agencies over the years.  This year due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, we were unable to do it in person, so to make up for this deficiency, we  are presenting the 2020 8-Hour Virtual Refresher Training.  This is a 13-module training to meet the 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher requirement.  Please refer to the attached file for directions on how to access the class.  Please feel free to share this email with any partner agencies.

EPA has also introduced a virtual version of our Mercury Response and Cleanup Class.  The directions for this class are also attached.

Sincerely;

Robert Wise

Federal On-Scene Coordinator

This is the first of a series of training programs that will be posted.  Look for “Descent Into Madness:  Mad Chemists” and “How to Get Your Hazardous Waste Site Cleaned Up” in the near future.
